Inspired by a photograph of this legendary bar on rue Saint-Denis in Saint-Hyacinthe, located right next to the ruelle du 3 septembre, so named in memory of a huge fire in downtown Saint-Hyacinthe that took place on September 3, 1876, which destroyed almost all of downtown including the old market, which was rebuilt in 1877.
This rue Saint-Denis has long been intended as the Rue des ARTS in Saint-Hyacinthe.
I gave this painting for a raffle among my former SSH classmates during our 50th anniversary as graduates of the seminary of St-Hyacinthe on Saturday, June 11, 2016... to recall... the choir gatherings that were then held at the taverne chez Willy...
